Presence
The acclaimed director pushes his directorial skills in this nifty supernatural story shot entirely from the perspective of a ghost. After a clan with Lucy Liu as Rebekah and troubled teenage daughter Chloe settles into their fresh home, the filming device – representing the ghost – shadows their actions. The teen shows signs of aware of the supernatural presence, and it seems defensive toward her. However, the motive remains? The premise is enjoyable that doesn't outstay its welcome, including a revelation that may be unexpected. Saturday 11 October, 4.35pm, 10.10pm, the Sky channel
The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent

The Black Phone Horror
The director's locked-room horror stands strong despite the lack of a follow-up. Located in 1970s Colorado, multiple child abductions has rendered the local kids on edge. When Finney is kidnapped by “the Grabber” and imprisoned in a dungeon, he dreads a terrible outcome. But the disconnected phone in the room keeps ringing, with spooky callers providing assistance, while the prescient dreams of Gwen, his sister could save him. An effective horror. Saturday 11 October, nighttime, Film4
The Eyes of Tammy Faye
In the conflict between spirituality and money, the victory is clear for materialism in Michael Showalter's wonderfully garish biopic about the fallen televangelist and her criminal husband. Andrew Garfield portrays the venal Jim, who states early on, “God does not want us to be poor,”. The couple commence profiting from the nation's Christian beliefs. It's an extravaganza of bad interior design, bad makeup and insincerity, yet Chastain succeeds to show Tammy Faye with compassion. Next Tuesday, 1.15am, the Film4 channel
